Last Week of Class: Revising and Proofreading plus info on Blogging Presentations
On Monday, December 1 please bring in a newer version of your draft to work on in terms of revision. We will go over transitional words and paragraphing to help you get your final paper in shape. Also remember to check my office hours for this week in the post below.
On the wednesday and friday of the last week of class, I'd like each blog group to present their blog to the class. I will assign groups on the monday after thanksgiving. This presentation should involve a fifteen minute overview of what you have done on your blog, with each participant first discussing their participation and favorite blog responses from their fellow group members. Then as a group, I'd like you to choose another blog to analyze, showing its high and low points in terms of what the assignment asked the class to do, and lastly, discuss what kinds (if any) of literacies were involved in blogging. what were the limitations to this medium, what are the advantages, and lastly how does it compare as a form of communication with webx in terms of providing a space for classroom discussion outside of the classroom.

More Info on Observation Blogs
As a group, your observation blog should be interactive, particularly using squawkbox to comment on each other's observations and to provide feedback on what direction or possible research question the blogger can pursue. Therefore, I suggest that you comment on one/two observations a week to at least one of your fellow group members. Secondly, you should all post your electronic URLs somewhere in your blog for me and others to access. Any other questions that you have may be posted here?
Class Activities
Hello All,
Today I'd like you to do Blog #5 on the diy presentations that we were very lucky to witness, sans technical difficulties. I'd like you to choose one or two presentations by any of the class members to discuss in terms of the kinds of literacy narratives presented. Was the form of the narration effective? Why or why not? What was the project's focus and did it communicate a relationship to technology? If so, what was it? Was the technology presented in the DIY project viewed from a critical point of view? in other words, how is this technology used by the presenter and are there other ways in which it can viewed in a more or less critical way? Besides all that, discuss what you liked and didn't like about the presentation.
Second on the agenda is the blogging observation journal. After you're done with your blogging assignment, I'd like you to get together with your group and discuss how you are going to organize your observation journal blog. If you create a new blog, let me know the URL. Also, the observation journal should be kept pretty consistently--by that I mean you should be visiting your site at least 3X a week and giving us snapshots of what is going on there and how you are going to approach this community critically.

A Bit of Stuff to Discuss
Well, I'm mightily impressed with the blogs you've produced so far. I've now posted all of the group blogs but seem to have a problem with the URL for FU2Bloggsters so please figure out what's going on there.
Also remember that you should ALL be responding to the readings via the main interface and then discussing each other's posts via the comments section.
I am going to post some links for html coding and design issues. remember that the blog at some point has to be organized so that i can read it (and not weep :)) easily w/o scrambling around trying to find out what you've done and where it is. In any case, they look pretty good so keep on bloggin'.
